Flag Raising Ceremony

It was a very special day as it was the Flag Raising Ceremony of our two flags, the Aboriginal Flag & Torres Strait Islander Flag, at the Charleville Police Station. This was done at the initiative of Senior Sergeant Marty Hall who did the opening speech. Bidjara Traditional Elder Uncle Ray Robinson did the Welcome to Country and young Ethan Bond did a superb job on the didgeridoo.
The Banjarra Dancers put on a wonderful performance. PLO Uncle Teddy Burns & Indigenous Trainee Ambo Tamara Suhan had the honour of raising the flags. The food was superb and it was great to see our Elders waited on by the Police. It was a day enjoyed by all and many expressed it was about time and a step in the right direction and glad they were there to see it.
