COMPETITORS from across the South-West are preparing to converge on Cunnamulla for the town’s annual triathlon.
Cunnamulla’s Jock Jones, who appeared on Costo’s drive show today, says registrations are still possible for Sunday’s open event, which follows a kids and enticer event the day before.
“We’d still love to hear from anyone who’d like to have a go,” says Jones, who once couldn’t swim but then, in his mid-30s, took swimming lessons and now actively competes.
Many of the competitors who took part in last weekend’s Charleville Triathlon will also take part in the Cunnamulla event, which boasts more than $3000 in cash prizes and vouchers.
Sunday’s open event starts at 7am and involves a 750m swim, 20km cycle leg and a 5km run.
The swim leg was originally planned for the Warrego River but due to safety concerns, it has been switched to the local swimming pool.
