LOCAL GALLOPER SALUTES IN BATTLE OF THE BUSH

CHARLEVILLE trainer William Pugsley, who was heard LIVE on-air on 4RR-FM this afternoon, is the talk of bush racing.

That’s after Roll Up, ridden by champion jockey Luke Nolen, came from last in the field to score a thrilling win in the Battle of the Bush Final last Saturday.

“This is the biggest thrill in the world,” Pugsley, also a railway worker, told RACENET after his momentous success in the $200,000 race at Eagle Farm.

“The horse had a stone bruise and I’ve been working overtime all week to fix it and it’s finally paid off. I’m stoked, I’m over the moon.”

Nolen is best remembered for his 22 winning rides of the iconic Black Caviar, one of the greatest gallopers in Australasian racing history.

Before coming to Pugley’s stable 12 months ago, Roll Up was under the care of Brisbane trainer Kelly Schweida.
