PARROTT SCORES EMOTIONAL WIN ON POLISHED COPPER

NEWCASTLE jockey Emily Parrott has scored an emotional win on Polished Copper in the feature race at the iconic Boulia Camel Races.

In front of 3000 racegoers from across the country and even overseas, Polished Copper saluted the judges on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon at Boulia.

Parrott, whose camel is trained by husband Luke, couldn’t help but shed a tear or two after taking out the Pacific Fuel Solutions Cup (1200m).

“We got it with our baby boy. He always comes through,” she said, as you may have heard from 6am today in our LOCAL NEWS on 4RR-FM.

“I thought about riding Geoffrey (last year’s winner) because he was faster. He galloped the whole way.

“I wanted to stick with this fella because my husband, he’s done a wonderful job with them.

“He’s just so settled down there and he just looks after us. It’s really magic to do it on a camel you’ve trained,”

Australia’s richest camel racing carnival, which began at Jundah just over two weeks ago, wraps up this Saturday at Winton.
