ONE of the worst kept secrets in the Murweh Shire is no more, with the Council’s most senior bureaucrat preparing to finish up.
Bruce Scott, who has served as chief executive officer for more than three years, has indicated to Council that he will retire later this year.
In his weekly report on social media, Murweh Mayor Zoro Radnedge confirmed Mr Scott’s intentions to sign off.
“We’ve known about this for a little while. I cannot say enough about how good a man Bruce Scott is,” Cr Radnedge says. “Bruce has indicated he’s going to retire. You will see some advertising going out that we will be looking for a new CEO in the Murweh Shire. That will be out in the next week or so.”
Meanwhile, Cr Radnedge has had more talks with the State’s Local Government Minister Ann Leahy about flood height mapping and its impact on insurance.
“The insurance companies are doing their part and dodging every question we throw at them,” Cr Radnedge says. “Once we get that up-to-date mapping and modelling, we can push forward and work not only with the Government but also the insurance companies.”
Council’s next meeting is in Charleville next Tuesday (September 15) from 9am.
