MARANOA MP David Littleproud has been grilled over his decision to snub the Bulloo Shire on his latest trip to the Outback.
Touring his vast electorate for more than a week, the former Nationals Leader left Thargomindah off the schedule, raising eyebrows in our part of the world.
Speaking LIVE on Costo’s drive show in the 4RR-FM studios in Charleville on Tuesday afternoon, Mr Littleproud did his best to brush it off.
“Maranoa’s one and a half times the size of France,” he said after just calling on remote communities such as Hebel, Cunnamulla, Eulo, Birdsville and Ilfracombe.
Mr Littleproud’s by-passing of the Bulloo Shire, devastated by floods last year, came three months after Mayor Tractor Ferguson fired some barbs his way.
“I’m not on the couch doing nothing. He’s always having a go at me, Tractor (Mayor Ferguson),” the MP laughed, trying to make light of the situation.
Mr Littleproud’s visit to Charleville, where he once worked for the National Australia Bank, also included a meeting yesterday with the Murweh Shire Council.
Whilst in the South-West, Mr Littleproud also made it clear he would contest the next election, amid the growing threat of One Nation.
He returns to Canberra on Sunday with Federal Parliament’s traditional winter recess coming to an end.
