CHARLEVILLE’s homegrown NRL hero Kurt Capewell has been recalled by Warriors coach Andrew Webster for Saturday’s clash against Gold Coast in Auckland.
After suffering a calf injury in the warm-up just before kick-off in the round two home fixture against Canberra, Queensland Origin rep Capewell was originally expected to make his comeback last weekend against Melbourne at AAMI Park.
As it turned out, the Warriors didn’t need him – they romped home 38-14, handing the Storm a fourth straight loss and prompting Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy to say he “may as well have went to the pub and had a couple of beers.”
Saturday’s game starts at 3pm and leads into a blockbuster for Capewell’s side the following weekend, on Anzac Day, against the Dolphins in Wellington.
The round seven action kicks off tomorrow night at Queensland Country Bank Stadium where the in-form Cowboys, having now won four on the trot, welcome a rejuvenated Manly, who are yet to lose under interim coach Kieran Foran.
