CHARITY RIDERS STOP OFF AT CHARLEVILLE RFDS BASE

MORE than 30 cyclists have made it to Longreach after a charity ride from Brisbane, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for mental health support services.

Covering more than 1300 kilometres, Ridewest, in partnership with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, came to a conclusion today when the peleton reached its final destination.

Over the past 16 years, the biennial fundraiser has pulled in about $2.6 million, with the money helping to address shortcomings in mental health services in rural and remote areas.

During their Charleville stopover, the riders enjoyed breakfast at the RFDS base before continuing on to their next leg to Augathella.

Cyclist Paul Collins, a former bank ‘Johnny’ in Western Queensland, who was riding for the eighth time, also popped into 4RR-FM to speak to Costo during his drive show.
