BRISBANE-based firm Durack Civil has secured a $6.7 million contract to build the second stage of Charleville’s Aurora housing estate.
The tender was awarded at a special meeting of Murweh Shire Council last Thursday, as outlined 24 hours later when Acting Mayor Peter ‘Red’ Alexander spoke on 4RR-FM’s drive show.
Seven tenderers were in the mix, with Durack getting the nod after that number was culled to just three before a final determination at the Shire Chambers.
Cr Alexander, during his LIVE chat with Costo, spoke of the importance of local businesses picking up work as Durack’s sub-contractors.
The eagerly-awaited project will open up more than 60 new home sites, expanding on the initial development of the Aurora estate.
