WARBIRDS have begun arriving in Charleville for tomorrow’s Wings on the Warrego airshow.
The historic planes that touched down this morning included a US-built Stearman biplane, believed to be dating back to the 1930s.
Not surprisingly, the airshow is attracting interest from far and wide with a small group of both locals and visitors converging on the Charleville Airport on the eve of the event, admiring historic aircraft as they flew overhead, landed and taxied to a parking position on the apron.
An official welcome for the airshow, exclusive to ‘Wings’ ticket holders, will be held today from 5pm at the historic Hotel Corones.
The airshow shapes as the cornerstone of a massive weekend in Charleville, with the town preparing to mark National Bilby Day on Sunday.
As part of the celebrations, there will be free entry for everyone, locals and visitors, to the Charleville Bilby Experience from 10am to 2pm.
The official launch of Charleville’s Bilby Art Trail will take place today at the Mulga Lands Gallery from 6pm.
