ANGLERS from far and wide have converged on Cunnamulla for the town’s premier fishing competition.
Hosted by the Cunnamulla Fishing and Restocking Club, this year’s event is celebrating its fifth anniversary, with a stack of prizes on offer for those who can land something of substance.
Club vice-president Steven Mitchell, who was on 4RR-FM during the week, talking up the competition, says conditions couldn’t be better for the Labour Day long weekend.
“They tell me the fish are on the bite,” he quips by the banks of the Warrego River before trying to hook a decent-sized Murray cod or yellowbelly.
Nominations ($30 for adults, $20 for children and pensioners) are open now and close at 9pm tomorrow.
