CHARLEVILLE’s John ‘Rambo’ Wallace has visited Government House in Brisbane at the invitation of the State’s Governor.
Mr Wallace was at historic Fernberg in the posh suburb of Paddington yesterday afternoon to receive an Emergency Services Medal (ESM) from Dr Jeannette Young after he was named in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours for his long-time dedication and commitment to the State Emergency Service (SES).
According to Mr Wallace, area controller for the SES, it was a special occasion, being one of only 18 people to be hosted by Her Excellency.
“Lot of them were lifesavers, police officers, fire personnel, ambulance and a lot of civilian personnel that do a lot of charity work….humbling to be amongst those sort of people,” he said on 4RR-FM’s Local News from 6am today, before joining Costo for his LIVE drive show today after the 3pm news.
Prior to his trip to Brisbane, Mr Wallace spoke face-to-face with the Governor last Wednesday when Her Excellency visited Charleville.
