QUILPIE SHIRE COUNCIL BUILDS MOMENTUM AFTER HOUSING SUMMIT

MOMENTUM is building In Quilpie, on the back of last week’s housing summit.

As reported this morning on 4RR-FM’s News for Western Queensland, the Quilpie Shire Council is now advertising for a community and business development officer.

The $80,000 a year job is to be based in Quilpie, as the Council ramps up its push to get Quikpie’s population back to the all-important 1000 people mark.

Prior to the weekend, major news outlets gave Quilpie plenty of publicity, all because of Council’s announcement to continue with its radical $20,000 homeowner grant.

The grant is payable, so long as the new residents stay in a newly-built home in the Quilpie Shire for at least 12 months.

In other news out Quilpie, Council’s CEO Justin Hancock had his final day on the job last Friday after more than five years of running the administration.

He’s now preparing for his next gig, with Central Queensland’s Banana Shire Council, based in Biloela but encompassing other towns such as Moura and Taroom.

Mr Hancock’s replacement, albeit on an interim basis, is Julie Reitano, who’s had the job before and was also previously the big kahuna for the Maranoa Regional Council.
